Your problem is that you formatted it as FAT32, which win7 doesn't like. What you need to do is create the partition with Boot Camp Assistant like before, but when it asks if you want to go to the installer, say no. Then use winclone to restore on that partition. I don't believe that it gets formatted in that process.

I have an old LC 575 that I'm using for mostly playing games and some word processing, no internet, though. I'm wondering if I should upgrade from 7.5.5 to 7.6 or from 7.5.5 to 8.0. I'm probably going to pick up 32mb of RAM soon, so I'm ready for any OS to be on it.
Any thoughts?
You'll probably get different answers but my opinion would be that unless the game requires it, don't upgrade to a later system.

I'm getting a little anxious for iWork '07. Hopefully we'll finally get a spreadsheet program.
Me too. I really hope Apple kicks iWork up a notch and makes it commercial grade in terms of speed and lack of bugs, and adds in the missing features.
iWork has the potential to be brilliant. I'd love to dump MS Office once and for all. I'm there with Keynote, and with a very, very solid upgrade with Pages, I'll be able to dump Word.

Congrats on the purchase. I'm a PC->Mac convert/PB 17 inch owner myself. You mentioned you were looking for a carrying case for your 17"er, I highly recommend the Booq Powersleeve 17. May not be ideal for traveling long distance, but for day-to-day use it's simple, svelte, provides good protection, and has adequate space for a fair number of accessories. It even has a pouch in the back for putting papers that you may need. And it looks way cooler than a backpack...

If you really want to see something wild, put some mosquito larvae in with it. Dragonfly nymphs are predators, and they'll take small invertebrates like other insect larvae (especially mosquito "wigglers"), or even small vertebrates like tadpoles. You might have to move the wigglers in front of the nymph, but if the nymph attacks, you're in for a shocker.

I have a Macbook Air 11 Ultimate and I was having issues with 10.6.7 (playing Portal/Netflix) hoping that downgrading to 10.6.6 will help. So I want to reinstall SL and get back to 10.6.6, but trying to do a reinstall with my SL dvd is not working. I get to boot off the DVD with the option key, and it allows me to select the dvd to install, but right after that I get a box saying I have to reboot (in multiple languages).
I get this same result from a SL USB drive or a SL DVD. I lost my USB thumb drive that came with the macbook.
Any suggestions?

Yes, this is most disapointing. I have been wanting this app on my iPad ever since I got one. This is even more glaring since you can't even access Apple's own MobileMe site from the iPad - which is another rant entirely. :mad:

so im going to italy from california and i was thinking of getting a psp game for the plane rides. these are pretty darn long - 10 hours (i dunno). so for there and back 10 hours after subtracting listening to ipod and socializing. what game would you recommend?

I encountered those bad things. I did have it working under Vista Ultimate 64-bit last year though. I can't seem to get it to work again.

ha! i actually bought this cd off itunes a few months ago. could do with some more sequencing and layering. but what it is great for is sampling. i took one of the ink cartridge hitting the side of the caseing sounds and processed it into a kick drum. heres a rough mix.

Just called the Emeryville Apple store, and asked them if I could camp out there. They said they don't care but that I should check with Bay Street security. They gave me the number. The lady I talked to said that no camping is allowed on the sidewalk or street and police will be out that night. The time people can start lining up is at 7am. I called the Apple store on Powell in San Francisco and they said it no problem, no one ever gets bothered. Guess thats where I will be!

So Im a freelance Editor/Motion Graphics guy with no real understanding of RAID Controller Cards, or how they work.
As of right now I have three 1TB drives inside my Mac Pro, RAIDed together (stripe 0) using the OS. No Raid card.
The drives are all 7200rpm from varying manufacturers. (not sure if this matters.)
My questions is; is it beneficial for me to get a RAID card to control these drives vs. leaving it to the OS to handle? Any suggestions for me?

3 drives in RAID0 ? Yikes, anyone of them goes and your machine is out of action. RAID0 offers no fault tolerance as no drives in the array share parity info or are mirrored.
You would most certainly see a benefit in a hardware RAID solution, especially if you are going to switch to a RAID level with some redundancy, like RAID5 or RAID10. Also a true hardware RAID takes the processing load off your processors and memory.
If on a budget you could go with RAID-Z, it involves switching to the ZFS file system. RAID-Z1 apparently offers similar performance to RAID5. Read this thread (http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1135718) for further insight.
I would get an SSD for the OS and use the 3x 7200rpm Disks in RAID5.

this is so frustrating I should've just gotten the ipad from the states last week or something
